Escondido AgX Regional Innovation Hub grew out of a simple conviction — that small farms and local businesses are the backbone of a thriving community, economy, and food system.
Our Roots
Escondido has been feeding Southern California for over a century. Citrus, avocados, vineyards — this valley's agricultural identity runs deep. But heritage alone doesn't pay water bills.
Escondido AgX Regional Innovation Hub was born from a simple conviction: what if a city chose to invest in its farmers? In 2024, the City of Escondido commissioned a feasibility study with The VINE Institute that became a blueprint for the future of AgTech innovation in our region. Today, that vision is becoming a reality in the heart of downtown Escondido through an initiative led by The VINE Institute.
